I’m Catherine!

We believe your ceremony should be the best part of your wedding day.

I help couples say “I do” in a way that feels real, intentional, and unapologetically them—with laughter, heartfelt moments, and not a single awkward pause.

I never imagined I’d fall so deeply in love with weddings, but becoming a wedding officiant feels like something I was always meant to do. As the founder of Merry Fairy Weddings and an ordained bilingual officiant based in Ottawa, I’ve had the privilege of guiding hundreds of couples through one of life’s most powerful milestones. Every ceremony I create is a reminder of what matters most: connection, commitment, and love in all its beautiful forms.

Rooted in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and raised in a francophone family, I’m proudly bilingual in English and French. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ottawa and a graduate degree from the University of Bremen in Germany. I’m ordained through the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry and legally licensed to officiate weddings for all couples in Ontario and Quebec.

Hi, I’m Sophie!

I’m the kind of person who thrives on connection, and I truly believe that every couple’s love story is unique and deserves to be celebrated in its own special way. As an officiant with Merry Fairy Weddings, I have the honor of guiding couples through one of the most meaningful moments of their lives—creating ceremonies that reflect their journey, their love, and their personalities.

I’ve always been a storyteller at heart, and I bring that passion into every ceremony I craft. Whether it’s an intimate elopement or a grand celebration, I strive to make every word meaningful, every moment personal, and every couple feel truly seen and celebrated.

Born and raised in Gatineau, I’m fully bilingual in both English and French, and I have a background in Communications. I’m also ordained through the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry, and I love incorporating the principles of metaphysics into my life and my ceremonies—focusing on presence, purpose, and meaningful connections.

Above all, I’m a listener. I take the time to really get to know each couple, understanding their vision and values so I can craft a ceremony that truly reflects who they are. I’m here to support you, bring your story to life, and make sure your ceremony is as unforgettable as the love you share.

When I’m not officiating weddings, you can find me hanging out with my adorable German Shepherd Oria, paddleboarding on the Gatineau river, or reflecting on how lucky I am to be part of such a beautiful, life-changing experience.

Together with Catherine, I’m proud to be part of Merry Fairy Weddings, where we create ceremonies that leave a lasting impression and celebrate the love in all its forms.

Natasha Derosiers Merry Fairy Officiant

Hi, I'm Natasha!

I love meeting couples, hearing how their paths crossed, and learning about the people, experiences, and moments that have shaped their relationship. Every couple has a unique story, and it is a privilege to help bring that story to life in a way that feels genuine, meaningful, and true to who they are.

I am proud to be of Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Lebanese culture and those roots have given me a deep appreciation for family, community, tradition, and the connections that bring people together. They inspire the way I approach each ceremony — with warmth, intention, and a focus on what matters most to the couple standing before me.

Joining the Merry Fairy team has been a natural fit: like Catherine and Sophie, I believe the ceremony is the heart of your wedding day, and I take that responsibility seriously. Whether your wedding is intimate and simple or filled with family and friends, my goal is to create a ceremony that feels comfortable, personal, and memorable.

As a mom, I understand firsthand how the people we love shape who we are and how we show up in the world. That awareness follows me into every ceremony I craft, because I know that the people standing beside you and sitting in those chairs aren't just guests. They are the village that brought you here.

When I'm not officiating weddings, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, searching for my next great meal, or heading off on an adventure. I believe some of life's best memories are made around a dinner table, on the road, or in the company of the people we love most.

Being invited to share in a couple's wedding day is something I hold very near and dear to my heart. It is a true honour to witness the beginning of a new chapter and create a ceremony that reflects the love, commitment, and joy at the heart of it all.
